Nasty changes looming at Menarock - The Gardens

Menarock is making wholesale changes to your nursing agreement and, although we don’t agree with these changes, they’re set on doing them.

They've offered a 2.5% wage increase, but we’ve asked them to include the Fair Work increase, offering you whichever is greater in any given year.

We’ve also asked for afternoon shift penalties to be increased to 15% and meal breaks to be triggered at four hours, but Menarock insist on them being after five hours.

Shamefully, they won't provide paid domestic violence leave.

They've also included the following negative things:

  • Significant reduction in redundancy entitlement, loss of voluntary redundancies and no measures for redeployment
  • No penalty for making roster changes without notice
  • Reduction in personal leave for 1-4 year employees
  • Removal of stat dec to evidence for personal leave
  • Removal of ability to deal with disputes about workplace matters
  • Only consulting with employees after a definite decision has been made – ie giving you no opportunity to influence the mind of the decision maker
  • Removing union delegate rights

Sharon will be coming out to meet with you in the Menarock staff room at 2pm on Wednesday, 25 March, and it’s important you come along so we can get your feedback on the planned changes to your staff agreement.
