Attention Anglicare casuals: you might be owed money!

Every now and then bargaining throws up some startling admissions by employers.

During bargaining, Anglicare has told HACSU that they don’t pay casual loading when casuals work on a public holiday.

Que? We had a double take and thought, are they serious?  It sounded strange given the rate of pay for casuals on a public holiday in the Anglicare EBA would otherwise be impossibly low – a mere 170% compared to the Award rate of 250%.

Well, they are serious and we believe they are also wrong.  But hey, if you can get away with it for as long as they have why wouldn’t you keep trying your luck?

Luck, though, eventually runs out.  The Agreement doesn’t exclude payment of the casual loading when calculating pay for when you work on a public holiday.

HACSU is now gathering group interest for a possible action to recover your unpaid wages for work on a public holiday.

You are absolutely entitled to make a claim.  If this includes you please contact us at HACSUassist and we will register your interest.

The more people interested, the bigger our claim.

We can make employers do the right thing if we are all in the union and work together.
