The government has now withdrawn the revised PSUWA wages offer that we wrote to Members about on Monday - an offer for a wage increase of just 2.25% and one that still failed to address a number of key conditions that weren’t dealt with in the last round of negotiations.

We discussed the offer with the government’s lead negotiator yesterday and said that, because they had made a formal offer, we were bound to take it to members for consideration and the only way to avoid that was to withdraw the offer and continue negotiations.

We made it clear that further talks must result in a negotiated position or offer that we could take to members very soon. Public sector members' next pay increase is due in early December – not far away at all.

This morning we received email notification that the offer is now withdrawn: “…in the interests of continuing productive negotiations and reaching an outcome in the near future that I would effectively withdraw the “offer” used in the email on Friday 4 October 2019. This is to avoid any confusion and the need for the unions to commence a round of member meetings.”

So the member meetings we'd arranged have been postponed, but not for long. We'll still go out to members in the next four weeks to either consider a revised offer from government or discuss our next steps to achieve a good result for you.
