Sadly, as far as our government's concerned, 2019 has begun the same way 2018 ended.

Sadly, as far as our government's concerned, 2019 has begun the same way 2018 ended, and this week it's meeting with nurses and allied health professionals to discuss their agreements but hasn’t scheduled negotiations around public sector workers' wage agreement until the end of the month.

To delay these talks on top of the denial of the pay rise owed from December last year is an insult to all those workers who go above and beyond every day to keep the system functioning, but, as demonstrated last year, none of us are going away, and together we’ll force this government to listen through the ongoing ‘Tassie Needs a Pay Rise’campaign.

We’ll keep working with other public sector unions to plan campaign activities and actions for 2019 and whether you’re an Orderly, Ward Clerk,Hospital Aide, Paramedic, Teacher, Nurse or Child Safety Officer, or any other worker in our health and human services system, we’ll stand together and win.

In coming weeks we’ll organise delegate meetings across the state to prepare to launch into the next phase of the campaign, so keep an eye out for details.

Your campaign is having an effect, and government members are fighting amongst themselves – so thanks for your efforts in 2018 and we look forward to working together in 2019 to make sure you get the recognition and respect you deserve..
