As you are probably aware, in February the Fair Work Commission handed down its much anticipated decision in relation to penalty rates. The decision means that workers in hospitality, retail and pharmacy will see a reduction in Sunday rates and Public Holiday rates in their Awards.

Further proceedings are going to be heard and this is likely to see reductions in penalties for even more workers covered by the Hair and Beauty Award and the Clubs Award.

The ACTU has received further advice that the decision could lead to reductions in a lot of other Industry Awards covering Aged Care, Health Care, Community Services, Home Care and Disability Services.

HACSU has developed a survey to gauge Members’ views across the state in relation to this.

We would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete this survey. The survey is for both shift workers and day workers.

HACSU will update Members with the results of the survey once they have been collated.
