All bans begin 12 March.

Congratulations on an outstanding show of solidarity at Tuesday’s stop work in Hobart (photos here), when you voted for this resolution:

“This gathering of HACSU Healthscope nurse members is united in their stance to continue on with their industrial action campaign. HACSU members’ disappointment grows towards Healthscope management and the lack of respect that they are showing for their nurses. Therefore, members vote to escalate industrial action and commence the remaining bans on Friday 12 March. In the event that Healthscope commit to members’ claims at the meeting scheduled on Thursday 11 March, it is agreed that industrial action can be suspended.”

We’ve just learned Healthscope no longer wishes to meet with HACSU, and we’ll be taking them on for this outrageous exclusion from the bargaining table.

The next step is to add all the other bans as of 6am from this Friday 12 March(the law sets strict time frames about when protected action must begin), so these are the bans we ask you to participate in:

  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of not complying with restrictions on making comment about the HSU, Tasmania Branch claims and reasons for taking industrial action to the public, clients and/or the media.
  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of wearing campaign material and/or badges.
  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of distributing information to clients, public and /or media regarding the HSU, Tasmania Branch claims and reasons for taking industrial action.
  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of a ban on performing overtime.
  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of a ban on completing and/or submitting paperwork or electronic forms, including any retrospective completion or submission of such paperwork or electronic forms, for the purposes of reporting to funding bodies of your employer.
  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of strict adherence to position descriptions.
  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of a ban on writing client notes except where to do so would directly affect the health or safety of clients.
  • Indefinite or periodic industrial action in the form of taking all breaks in full and on time.
  • A stop work meeting on 25 March 2021. We will advise of the times of that stop work meeting at least three working days prior to that date.

If you have any question to any of the bans, please contact me via email at assist@hacsu.org.au or by phoning 1300 880 032.
