Employer scare tactics and your rights.

Some staff received a letter about how the process of protected industrial action works, so we want to clarify some facts.

Firstly, as a member you can discuss what those bans look like or what’s involved and doing so isn’t illegal in any shape or form.

As a HACSU member you’re protected and it’s your right to discuss when and how further bans can be implemented.

We’re writing to Healthscope to tell them our members have a protected workplace right allowing them to ‘encourage’ and ‘promote’ these lawful activities.

Managers should be reminded that, as well as corporate fines of $66,600 per breach, they may attract an individual fine of $11,100 if they threaten disciplinary action regarding our members taking lawful industrial action.

Don’t let Healthscope’s scare tactics worry you, we’ll be monitoring their behaviour closely.

Your employer is clearly rattled by our ability to ask them to improve your working conditions, so remember there is power in sticking together.

Contact us immediately if you’re asked to a meeting with any manager about discussing or taking protected action as we’ll vigorously defend any member subjected to this outrageous behaviour.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
