A fantastic, united front.

Even the rain didn’t deter Hobart Private nurses from showing a fantastic, united front this morning - “What do we want? Patient safety! When do we want it? Now!”

This stoppage was well received by the public because they are on your side and asking for safe staffing levels will always be supported by Tasmanians and by your patients.

We expect Healthscope to explore more legal tricks to stop your protected industrial action, but let’s be very clear - the actions you take will always fully comply with the law.

You just need to stay strong and keep supporting each other and Healthscope just needs to get serious and offer fair staffing levels that will get the job done safely.

If you’re asked to a manager’s office for a ‘chat’ remember nothing’s off the record, they’re looking to trap you or us, so always take someone with you and if you have any concerns please contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 so we can help.

A ‘formal meeting’ needs to have an allegation put in writing for you to consider and you must be given at least 48 hours’ (2 business days) notice, and you have the right to representation from us if you’re a financial HACSU member.

This campaign is working, and Healthscope’s bargaining team have conceded the only way to get a yes vote for the next agreement is to give a guarantee about minimum staffing for each functional area.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
