8am on 5 May – save the date.

It’s time for another protected industrial action stop work for 2 hours starting at 8am on Wednesday 5 May.

Healthscope cancelled the latest bargaining meeting, again, claiming they wanted to talk to you directly – aka ‘we don’t trust unions’ (even though unions are the members) – with no additional meetings scheduled.

It’s outrageous that Healthscope think they’re winning employee’s support by playing this game.

We continually bring your concerns about unsafe workload issues to their attention, and they dismissively say there’s no proof of workload concerns. We’ve also said that offering just 1.75% per year is effectively a pay cut that is an insult to you and degrades the value of the work you do.

Trying to be clever and cherry-pick economic stats won’t wash, and we just did a deal that Calvary nursing staff are now voting on, for an 8% pay rise over the next 3 years which is a long way from a miserly 1.75% offer Healthscope has tabled.

We’ve written to Healthscope about the stop work industrial action on 5 May and we’ll be in your workplace over the next few days to discuss it.

Don’t be surprised if Healthscope asks you to accept a substandard agreement, but it definitely won’t have our backing – we’re fighting for you, for improved and safe workloads and for a decent pay rise.
