Over the last couple of weeks, we have had HACSU meetings across the state to discuss the 2% wage cap and the government’s complete failure to bargain in good faith.

Not only is it a pay cut compared to cost of living increases, but with the government currently struggling to attract and retain AHPs, this offer will be devastating on our already failing health and human services system.

HACSU members at the meetings made it clear that we will actively campaign with other public sector workers to make the government scrap its unfair wages position. Members resolved to authorise your local delegates to implement and roll out escalating industrial action until the government enters into genuine negotiations for a decent pay rise and improved conditions.

The first action starts at 8am on Monday 24 September and involves withdrawing goodwill from the government and working to rule, including the following:

• Claiming all overtime,allowances and other entitlements
• Starting work at start times, leaving work at finishing times & taking all breaks
• Withdrawal of other tasks that are done in good faith and working simply to your statement of duties
• Handing out materials and talking to patients, clients and the community about the unfair treatment of health and human services workers by this government

HACSU delegates committees are developing the next phase of bans. These bans will focus taking away revenue from the government, so the impact is very hard on the government and minimal on the community.
