Nurses soon to have their say.

After what has been a bit of a drawn out process, we today met with OneCare for what looks likely to be the  last bargaining meeting before the proposed new nursing agreement is put out to vote.

We had a few hiccups earlier when the proposed agreement contained changes that hadn’t been properly discussed, but we're currently working through the draft to make sure OneCare have addressed the issues we’ve raised.

While we haven’t got everything we’d like to see in the agreement, given how long this has gone on it’s important people get to have their say on what OneCare is offering. The big ticket items are still as follows:

  • A 2-year agreement with 2.5% wage increases on 1 January and 1 July 2021.

However, they haven’t committed to full back pay, despite continuing to cause delays in negotiation. That means you won't get back pay from 30 June 2020 (when your agreement expired) to 1 January 2021.

  • Increases to some allowances and public holiday loading.

  • 3 days of study leave and 2 days of exceptional leave.

Plus a variety of technical changes we’ve managed to win that secure your rights and conditions in the next agreement.

Once we’ve looked through their latest draft you’ll likely receive a copy of the agreement on 31 May, with the vote from 9 - 16 June.

If you have thoughts or questions please get in touch.
