Don't fall for the Hobart Clinic's spin

You deserve a fair offer

We found out yesterday that Kath Skinner sent an email to staff inviting them to an ‘information session’ on her latest offer for your agreement.

We were extremely disappointed to hear this, given that just two days before we told Kath that HACSU members had rejected her offer and that their bargaining reps wanted a meeting urgently to talk about workers’ concerns.

Once we saw the email, we also asked Kath if she’d consider cancelling the session to sit down with you and address the issues you’ve rightfully raised, rather than trying to spin a bad deal in an information session.

Instead, Kath has chosen to go ahead with the meetings, but won’t give us a firm date as to when she’ll meet to hear workers out.

She’s also still saying that THC don’t intend to budge on the issues you’ve told us you’re worried about like wages, Sunday penalties, and mental health leave.

As much as management try to scare you, you’re not responsible for the financial mismanagement of the Hobart Clinic and it shouldn’t be you that has to pay the price to get them back in the black.

You deserve a fair pay rise, your 200% shift penalties and mental health leave like every other worker at the Clinic, it’s simple.

We’ve made it clear to your CEO that if she won’t move, there’s a very real prospect of nurses at the Clinic walking off the job for the first time.
