This Friday 28 April marks the date for International Workers Memorial Day.
It’s a day to commemorate all of those workers who went to work one day and never came home and to remember the real-life toll on those who are injured at work and the struggles they often suffer through with their families and loved ones.
This day is a chance to reflect on the consequences of turning a blind eye to safety, and we’d love it if you could join us. Here’s where you can find events near you:
• Launceston – 8am at the Workers Memorial Park at Elizabeth Gardens (next door to York Park) on Invermay Road. There will be free breakfast provided afterwards.
• nipaluna/Hobart – 12.30pm on Parliament Lawns for a service and rally afterwards
We’re still fighting for better safety and better laws to protect workers here and elsewhere in the world and it’s our time to remember those that have paid a price no worker should ever pay.
Remember the dead and fight for the living.
