A huge moment for workers

We have exciting news! Not long ago a proposed new workplace law was tabled in parliament by the Albanese Government, the Secure Jobs, Fair Pay Bill. This marks a huge moment for workers.

These laws have finally been introduced into Parliament to fix the bargaining system, make jobs more secure and improve rights for all workers.

You’re invited to attend an urgent special meeting for Delegates, Activists and Workplace Leaders with ACTU President Michele O’Neil at 7pm on Thursday 3 November. You can register here.

If you’re not coming to our Delegates Conference, make sure you jump on if you can. If you are coming to conference you’ll hear a bit about these laws there.

Wages are going backwards and the cost of living crisis continues to put the squeeze on working people. Australian workers have not had a real pay rise for 10 years. These laws are urgent.

We know our existing workplace legislation is holding back wage growth and working people, so it’s especially important we get these new laws through Parliament.

To win these new rights we require the legislation to pass both in the House of Representatives and the Senate. We need to continue to win support in the community.

There are powerful opponents who are going to fight tooth and nail to try and stop these laws. We know from past experiences they will do whatever they can to stop workers getting a fair share, but we also know that with our numbers and our unity – we can fight them off and win.
