We need to hear what you think

As you’d know, the government have now made their final agreement offer to nurses and midwives. It’s a massive improvement since the last one – and only because of HACSU members like you speaking up and taking action.

Congratulations on forcing the government to finally pay attention to nurses and midwives across the state. Now, it’s time for you to have your say about whether the offer is enough.

We think this offer is a decent one, and it goes some way to address the fundamental issues for nurses – as well as having the largest gains for your pay in a long time. Some other positives include the simplification of your multi-disciplinary allowance, the N95 mask allowance and an increase to your uniform allowance.

There’s also a promise from the government to work through some of the non-agreement issues that affect you, as well as the addition of improved conditions in line with the rest of the public service such as:

• Increases to Parental Leave and Family Violence Leave

• Grandparent Leave

• Disability Leave

• Aboriginal Cultural Leave

• Gender Transition Leave (and more)

However, they’ve still refused to bring your Sunday penalty rates up to the 200% that every other public sector worker gets. Regardless of how you vote we’ll keep campaigning for this – because it needs to be made right.

The ballot to vote on your agreement opens now and closes at 12pm on Wednesday 18 October.

If you're a nurse or midwife, you should've received an email from us with instructions about how to vote.
