The importance of a delegate or activist

In this uncertain climate there are a myriad of workplace issues.

We're being asked a lot of questions, but it’s not always clear who we should get in touch with to check on what’s going on.

Having a delegate or activist in an area means we can contact someone at the coalface who really knows what’s happening, making it much easier for us to help you and other members.

A delegate is nominated by their colleagues as a go-to person when there’s an issue in a worksite or when members just need some information, and HACSU offers them some inspiring training (those in the public sector get 5 days paid training per year).

An activist is a contact person we can talk to if we need info about the workplace, and they can quickly alert us to any issue that we should know about.

Anyone who thinks they'd like to become a delegate or an activist please let us know.

Members are the union, and having a go-to person in every worksite makes us all stronger.
