Tasmania has had its first confirmed case of COVID-19 and this is especially concerning news for many HACSU members who are front-line workers in the health, aged care and community services industries.

Since the first news of the global spread we’ve been working with government, public health authorities and other unions to make sure the right advice and protections are put in place.

I encourage you to read this update from the Australian Council of Trade Unions and this Department of Health fact sheet for health and residential care workers as ensuring we all follow public health advice regarding safety and personal protective equipment is vital.

Some employers are issuing advice to workers, so if you have concerns about their advice, particularly if it contradicts the advice referred to in this update, please discuss it with our team at HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or assist@hacsu.org.au

Thank you for all the vital work you do helping your fellow Tasmanians.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
