We're calling on the government to take overthe lifesaving mental health services that will be lost due to the closure of St Helen’s Private Hospital.

The closure of St Helen’s private hospital means Tasmania will lose 39 inpatient mental health beds and other lifesaving mental health services in five weeks’ time – including outpatient groups and theMother Baby Unit – unless the State Government intervenes now to save them.

The private owner of St Helen’s has simply walked away from the community despite being paid tens of millions in publicmoney to operate a hospital on our behalf.

It’s almost like we’d have been better offkeeping it in the community’s hands to start with.

Whilst the Tasmanian government has the power to save these vital services and return them to public hands, they have so far refused to commit to taking them over and running them in the public system.

We are calling on the government to take the services over before 23 June and we’d love for you and all of your friends and family to join us at next week’s rally.

Save Our (Mental Health) Services Rally

When: 12 noon, Tuesday 23 May

Where: Executive Building courtyard, 15 Murray Street, nipaluna/Hobart

RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/821071969375192

Why: The closure of St Helen’s hospital means a loss of 39 mental health beds in southern Tasmania, including 8 from the Mother Baby Unit. We’re calling on the government to save these mental health services now and ensure Tasmanians have access to care they need and deserve.
