NWRH Food Services are taking industrial action

HACSU members at the North West Regional Hospital kitchen have had enough of working on an unsafe and unsightly floor that makes their jobs harder than they need to be.

You might know that we’ve already tried to work with management and make them understand the gravity of the issue to no avail.

Now, the floor is too slippery to walk on when its wet and the endless gritting “fixes“ have left grime and dirt stuck on the ground.

You’d think that since the floors have been a problem from the day they were laid the Department would be keen to come up with a fix – but they’re still sitting on their hands about a long-term solution.

Yesterday HACSU members said enough is enough and voted to take industrial action to get the kitchen floor fixed once and for all.

Starting at 7am on Wednesday 12 July Food Services’ industrial action begins with wearing badges and union branded clothing and telling patients, the community and the media their story.

If there’s no solution, then we’ll be forced to talk about how we can escalate this action to make sure the floors are fixed, and workers’ safety is prioritised.

We’ll be out and about soon to talk to you more about how you can get involved, so please make sure you keep your eye out on an update from us. If there’s any questions in the meantime, then don’t hesitate to contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032.
