Like many staff, we attended today’s video conference where Anglicare’s CEO Chris Jones announced that Anglicare intend to divest from the majority of their disability services.

We have contacted Anglicare to find out more information about how they intend to transfer not just clients, but also workers, to genU as the new company takes over disability services.

In summary, this is what Anglicare announced today:

• Anglicare have made the decision to reduce their involvement in some aspects of their disability services (support coordination and most independent living services). This means that Anglicare will no longer provide most of their existing disability services.

• Anglicare have partnered with a national company, genU, to take over those aspects of their business. genU are known to HACSU through our Victorian branch, who have many members employed by genU.

• Anglicare expect that the full transfer will have occurred by the 31 March this year.

• Staff will have employment opportunities with genU, who have agreed to maintain continuity of service for all employees who take up positions with them. This includes conditions like annual leave, personal leave and long service leave.

• There may be both partial and full redundancies – but Anglicare didn’t provide any details.

We have already asked Anglicare to set up urgent meetings to start discussions about your future employment, entitlements, and job security.
