Several workers at St Giles have contacted us and said they’re being instructed to go to work, pick up a St Giles work vehicle and drive to the first client, but not get paid until the client is in the car.

We raised the issue with St Giles, and instead of rectifying it immediately, they chose to seek advice from an outside IR firm.

Unsurprisingly, the external IR provider’s advice was that St Giles is obliged to pay workers when they drive work vehicles.

St Giles have now agreed to pay you from when you collect the company car to return to your offices upon completion of the shift.

They have also agreed to review their records and backdate payment for any employees who were not paid correctly for this.

Well done to those who raised the issue, and by sticking together we have successfully stopped your employer from trying to remove your entitlements!

If you are not reimbursed for the time spent driving work cars, please contact us to ensure you receive the backpay you’re owed.
