Here's what we know so far

We met again with genU management last Wednesday to try to progress discussions for your new agreement. While the genU reps appear to be trying to negotiate in good faith, it’s clear that they don’t have the proper authority to put a genuine offer on the table. Although we’ve made it clear for some time that we expected an offer before Christmas, unfortunately, we won’t have that.

It's disappointing that, after genU initially delayed negotiations until August, we find ourselves in December now with no concrete progress. While they have expressed considerations for positive changes, such as increasing personal leave and other entitlements, the lack of an actual offer is frustrating. Their excuse is that they don’t have the authority to offer it.

Enough is enough. It is looking more and more likely that the only way to push for an offer is through industrial action. You have been more than patient waiting for genU to take over Anglicare and Li-Ve, and you shouldn’t have to put up with any more excuses to get a genuine offer (or a genU offer at least).

We won’t wait indefinitely. We will soon be reaching out to talk to you about where to go next.

If industrial action becomes necessary, we'll need over 50% of members to vote, with a majority in favour of taking action. We understand the challenges you face in your busy work life. So before we go to that vote, we will ensure that everyone is prepared to take collective action for the wages and conditions you deserve.
