Deception is wrong: vote NO to Montagu's agreement

We're having a meeting to discuss further on Monday 19 December

Thanks to members who alerted us, we’re aware that Montagu management have now sent out an agreement for voting that we do not agree with.

The agreement is deceptive and includes provisions they haven’t told us about, such as extending sleepovers for up to 10 hours – Montagu don’t even have the courage or dignity to raise this in face-to-face negotiations, so it is a surprise to all of us now.

Specifically, Montagu want to make it so that you can stay at work for another two hours after a sleepover shift for only $11.25 an hour. They had been caught out ripping staff off this way previously. This is over $10 an hour below the minimum wage and shows sheer disrespect to the hard work and vital services you provide to participants. To add insult to injury, they want to give you 1 cent an hour to compensate for this trade-off.

Montagu are breaching good faith bargaining by not presenting this at negotiations and then unilaterally deciding to rush this through in the ballot. This is simply not good enough.

Your HACSU bargaining team strongly urge you to Vote No to this unfair agreement and show the CEO and their expensive paid consultant that you will not be intimidated by their hostile and dishonest attempt to rip workers off.

As voting will commence for a very short period from Tuesday next week, we’ll be holding a membership meeting on Monday 19 December at 10.30am at the HACSU office at 11 Clare Street in New Town. Please come along or jump on the Teams meeting to talk about how we can stop this unfair agreement - you should've received an email with the link.
