New fee structure approved

Members will recall that a new fee structure was endorsed in a survey at the end of last year.

Support for lowering fees was overwhelming and, as a result of the vote, the AESB Executive put a proposal to HACSU’s Branch Committee of Management (BCOM) to bring in the new fee structure for ambulance members. Earlier this week, the BCOM approved the change, effective from the first pay day in August 2020. This is the pay day due on 13 August 2020 (PP commencing 27 July 2020).

The new rates:

Band       Classification                                                        Fortnightly dues

P/time    <23hrs/week (all classifications)                                $22.00

1              Intern Paramedics / EMDSO / EMD                            $29.00

2             Paramedics / Team Leader Comms                            $34.00

3             ICP and BSO Paramedics                                            $38.00

4             All other classifications (aboveICP 7)

              BSO ICP/CSO/ECP/Flight/Education/Management    $41.00

This system will make it easier to track members' correct rate and expected costs. The previous fees were based on 1% of composite rate of pay for a classification, were difficult to keep up to date and meant some members were paying more than $50 a fortnight, which the AESB Executive and BCOM believe is too high.

We acknowledge that some members may have to pay more than they're paying currently, but mostly this is happening because the incorrect rates are being charged now. We'll contact members next week to confirm their current classification. If anyone wants clarification about this, please talk to a HACSU delegate or Chris Kennedy.
