AT TA issue

It's still unresolved!

There have been more idea exchanges about how and when travel allowance will be made, and AT says they won’t pay TA for any OT shifts as they consider them voluntary, but we disagree and believe people should be compensated for long drives in terms of time and kilometres.

Click here to read the latest letter we sent AT.

AT has conceded travel to a non-home station location for normal shifts should occur in work time and in a service vehicle, but they have no real way of achieving this as they haven’t addressed the issue of gaps in the roster when people are required to travel.

So, our previous ban is still in place –basically say NO.

Tell your RDM you intend to commence duty at your home station(s) as identified but don’t make ad hoc decisions about this, be clear and upfront, preferably in an email.

Arrive for work at your home station and if the travel method isn’t pre-arranged, contact your local duty manager to arrange transport as needed, this could be a taxi, service vehicle, hire car, government car etc or a lift from a manager or colleague in a service vehicle.

This might seem inconvenient but it’s crucial all members stick together, and you can’t be disadvantaged or victimized for standing up for your rights at work - this has gone on long enough, so do something to force the resolution!

If you feel pressured to accept conditions outside of this arrangement let a local delegate or HACSU know as you’ll be fully backed by us, and this applies no matter what your position, from intern through to manager.
