Still waiting on answers.

Late yesterday we were made aware of an EOI for multiple Paramedic Immuniser positions in all regions for about a 5-month period starting ASAP.

We’ve had no answers from Ambulance Tasmania, although it appears to have been organised outside of AT’s control.

Disappointingly, there’s so little info about this that we can’t say much other than we believe the intent is to pay base rate Paramedic pay band only for 38 hours a week or lower engagements for the fixed-term contract period.

Staff on such contracts traditionally can’t work on-road nor work additional hours unless it directly relates to that contract.

It seems this ‘opportunity’ will be a significant pay drop for most members while also limiting your ability to work any additional hours.

This may be desired by those who wish to escape shift work for a short period for various reasons but be aware of further financial impacts such as reduced superannuation and the potential to jeapordise salary packaging arrangements.

You’d think we’d have been consulted fully before the positions were advertised… but we’ll just keep pursuing more information.

If you’d like to discuss this, please contact me via HACSUassist at assist@hacsu.org.auor call me on 1300 880 032.
