Members voted to take industrial action last Friday due to the government’s lack of action in commencing bargaining to replace your current EBA, which expires on 30 June this year. Clearly, your collective action is working and the government have now offered a bargaining meeting for 16 June.
Congratulations for showing strength and enabling this long-overdue progress on negotiations for your wages and conditions!
We are very concerned about the government’s already publicised position on wage growth, where their budget for 2.5% being far less than the current 5.8%CPI for Hobart and it's likely a fight will be needed to avoid a pay cut in real terms.
We’ll hold off starting the bans we discussed last week for now, and will keep you updated on the EBA negotiations.
