You may be aware that Coroner McTaggart is investigating the death of our late member Damian Crump who died in 2016, with the scope of the inquest, found here, focusing on 7 main things.

We know the evidence is vast and many aspects, opinions and statements of the events, policies, decisions and training will be considered.

The inquest is scheduled from 15 March to 1 April and the coroner is issuing summonses to individuals so, if you’re a HACSU member summoned to appear, legal assistance may be available through our professional indemnity malpractice insurance.

There’s no guarantee that assistance will automatically be provided, and each person seeking legal assistance must complete a claim form which is then assessed by the insurer, so if you’re planning to do so contact me urgently to get a claim form.

We recommend that individuals appearing have their own legal representation, which is likely to be different from the union’s representatives and the employer’s representatives.
