We published information about the solutions to ramping proposed by Ambulance Tasmania three weeks ago, and these solutions generally aligned with our current industrial bans.

We took AT at their word and believed they were going to implement the solutions within a day or so, but we haven’t seen AT’s new policy so far. AT said that they have to reach a state wide agreement within the THS before releasing the policy. The LGH still hasn’t agreed on the proposed solutions. So, at this stage, we still encourage you to stick with our current bans.

In relation to inter hospital transfers, unless it’s medically urgent (P0-P1), no patient should be transported by EMS from one hospital to another without a guaranteed bed at the receiving hospital. The patient should not be presented on arrival to the ED for triage/admission, rather they should be taken directly to the confirmed bed/ward/unit.

Should there be any doubt about where to take a patient, or there is doubt about a bed being open at the receiving hospital, the SOC-DM should be consulted, to be clear we will not accept ramping with inter hospital transfer patients.
