Calvary's workload model a toothless tiger

They just don't get it

Since the involvement of the Fair Work Commission in our bargaining with Calvary’s high paid corporate negotiators, we’ve been fighting to get management to fix your workload issues.

In our most recent meeting, Calvary finally presented a model for workload based on Work Hours per Patient Day (WHpPD). While we welcome Calvary engaging with us around the very real issue you face, we’re afraid that their current proposal isn’t up to scratch.

For starters, Calvary’s proposed workload model would allow them to alter WHpPD at their own discretion and does not have any real consequence for them if Calvary fails to provide you with safe staffing.

We’ve also been strongly arguing that you should receive a workload allowance if you are forced to work understaffed without any change in your duties – we want to see this be included in their workload model.

We’ll continue to push for this in our bargaining meetings, but in the meantime, we will gear up for potential industrial action if Calvary is not willing to negotiate around this and their meagre 3% pay offer.

We’ll be out and about on your worksite soon, so come and chat with us and keep an eye out for more updates shortly.
