The agreement is now before the FWC

The St. John enterprise agreement has been voted up with a majority of “yes” votes.

The agreement will now go to the Fair Work Commission for final ratification. While we can’t predict the final sign-off date, we expect that to be early 2023.

While it has been a long process, there have been some significant wins for workers, including:

• A wage increase of CPI Hobart (March) or the Fair Work minimum, whichever is the greater, paid in the first full pay period on or after 1 July of 2023, 2024 and 2025

• Improved definitions for what constitutes a family

• Improved dispute resolution processes

• Increasing the Domestic Violence Leave to 15 days

• Paid renewal of the Working with Vulnerable People registration

• Laundry Allowance and overtime payment fixed for all staff working outside the prescribed hours

The agreement has also been rewritten with modern language and is now much easier to read. Combining four separate Awards into one agreement is a task in itself, so it has been a big job.

We want to thank the HACSU delegates on the Bargaining Committee for their tireless work and the bargaining team for their contributions to the sometimes robust but still productive negotiations.
