We're taking the Department to task

Recently, we took the Department to task on their complete lack of consultation with workers about outsourcing public sector Physiotherapy Services jobs at the Roy Fagan Centre.

It’s disgraceful that rather than funding public services properly to help you care for your patients, the Department have instead chosen to line the pockets of private for-profit companies with public coffers.

We know the privatisation of our health services erodes the quality of care your patients receive – not to mention how it undermines job security and creates additional workload when private companies simply don’t know how your services work.

We’ve told the Secretary of the Department that they must meet with us urgently and come up with a plan to clean up their mess.

These services are vital and affect some of our community’s most vulnerable – and we need to continue to make sure that a high standard of skilled professionals do this important work in the public service.

Instead of the Department running to the private sector to “fix” our services, we think it’d be much simpler if you were just funded properly so you can keep giving our patients the high level of care that we know you provide.

If you’re aware of outsourcing in the THS, please make sure you get in touch with us so we can make sure the Department consult with you and your concerns are actually heard.

We’ll keep you up to date as things progress, but if you have any questions or want to chat more about this issue, please give us a call via HACSUassist on 1300 880 032.
