More talks and more details to come

Yesterday we met with the Department and our colleagues from the CPSU to continue talks about your proposed agreement.

The meeting focused mostly on outstanding issues that you’ve made clear need to be fixed – or at least included in the agreement by the government.

We had further discussions about workload management, progression for AHPs in child and families and additional wellbeing and mental health support. We also talked about the application of a market type allowance for child safety and how you want to see it implemented.

Our chats were positive, but we’re still waiting for the actual details from the government so we can have a proper talk with you about it all. We were told we’ll receive a formal offer in the coming days, so we’ll make sure we share it with you as soon as we get it.

Because you’ve been active and gotten involved, we’ve been promised significant improvements – but we’ll wait for the actual detail before we make a proper judgement about how well the government live up to their promises.

But what is clear is that you care about the kids and families you support, and you know they deserve better. Because you’re union and because you stand up for our most vulnerable, we’ve been able to push for more.

Make sure you keep an eye out for the next update from us where we’ll have details of the offer for you to analyse and give some feedback on. You’ll also see us at your work soon.
