Medical imaging workers fight back

You have a right to your meal break when you’re at work and to be compensated fairly for it. Some of you have told us that you’re not getting your paid meal break while on night shift – and that’s simply not right.

We’ve raised this issue with management and the pay office, and they’ve committed to make sure you receive the correct penalties if your meal break is missed, late or reduced.

The Department has dragged this issue out for the last 6 months, but there’s power in unity. Once your delegate was able to get involved and raise it as an issue, things started moving quickly and they realised we meant business. Now, we’re continuing to work with them on a long-term solution that will mean you get the break you’re entitled to.

Make sure you let us know if you’ve been affected by this since December 2022 so we can ensure your name is on the list to be audited for your missed breaks.
