Fire wardens: it's a choice not a duty

We’ve heard from members at the Queenstown Hospital that management are forcing workers to take up the additional responsibility of becoming the fire warden for their worksites.

It’s a worker’s choice if they put their hand up to serve as the fire warden – not an obligation that you’re forced into.

Aside from this, there’s also training that goes into being a fire warden and it’s not necessarily safe to throw you into the job just because a manager says so.

Remember, you need to know what you’re signing up for before you take on a responsibility like this – and whatever the case it’s your choice.
