Where was the communication?

Black dust in Food Services is not on

We raised concerns with your managers on Friday about the black dust in Food Services that was coming through your vents.

Management told us they’re still trying to put all the pieces together around where a breakdown in communication occurred. We reminded them that it’s completely unacceptable that there was no communication to you about this issue.

We’ve given them until COB Wednesday to get back to us with a clear answer to why there was nothing relayed to you – and for them to ensure this lack of communication won’t happen again.

But, in the future if you see issues in your workplace that you believe might be a safety concern, you should always report them to the relevant manager and touch base with us if you’re not happy with the response or believe you’re being requested to work in an unsafe environment.

Your employer has a responsibility to ensure that they provide you with a safe workplace and safe systems of work. If this isn’t happening, make sure you send us an email at assist@hacsu.org.au or contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032.
