We're going to hold them to their commitments

A number of HACSU members met with Glenn Bradley and Charmaine Carter yesterday to raise all the issues that confront you at Glenara Lakes.

At face value, it was a productive meeting, and they seemed to be very apologetic after finding out what you’ve all been through at your workplace. But only time will tell if there are positive outcomes.

Glenn committed that they’ll address roster issues first and confirmed they’ve just employed four new care staff and are waiting on all the checks to come back before they can start.

He also committed to attempting to fill all the gaps in the roster by employing new staff and increasing the hours of existing workers, including converting casual staff to permanent part-time where possible.

If you want additional hours, want to change your current roster or convert to permanent part-time, you can get in touch with Charmaine and let her know your availability.

On top of that, SCC also have promised the following:

• Glenara Lakes will have their own dedicated roster person

• The issue with medical supplies will be fixed as new processes around the minimum amount of stock holding will be implemented

• There will be a fortnightly update for staff at Glenara Lakes

We’ll hold management to their commitments and address your concerns. Feel free to contact us if you need more support.

If you know someone who is not a HACSU member yet, please encourage them to become part of the powerful aged care union.
