Here's how our first meeting went

We’ve met with Paul and his bargaining team to commence negotiations for a new agreement for both nurses and general staff at Tandara.

Our focus during this round was on crucial issues affecting HACSU members, including reproductive health and wellbeing, pregnancy loss, lactation and express breaks, family and domestic violence leave and the consultation clause when there is a major change at the facility.

Fortunately, Tandara were very supportive of many of our claims and could see the benefit of such entitlements in a predominately female industry.

Here are the HACSU claims that Tandara have agreed on:

• 5 days of paid reproductive health and wellbeing leave (excluding casuals)

• Pregnancy loss leave entitlements after a loss at different gestation periods with conditions for both paid and unpaid leave

• Lactation and express breaks for breastfeeding mothers, with conditions around both breastfed children under and over 12 months. This also includes break times, flexibility and provided amenities.

• 10 days of paid domestic violence leave paid leave and an extra 10 days may be approved on written application

• Changing the wording of the consultation clause from “definite decision” to “provisional decision”

Congratulations! This is a great outcome for workers thus far.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday 18 December, and we’ll keep you updated after that.
