SCC must back down from attacking their workforce

Lets keep the pressure on them

Congratulations on your successful actions last week including the community BBQs held across the state. These actions have led to the Federal Aged Care Minister Mark Butler intervening and urging SCC to reconsider its decision to slash vital roles in the servery, leisure and lifestyle and enrolled nurses.

Federal Government have tasked the Department of Health and Aged Care to provide a response for the government which will prevent these changes occurring.

This unprecedented intervention is welcomed and needed as SCC management are trying to implement changes that will be extremely detrimental to residents and the staff and have refused to listen to you – their own workers.

This will mean that SCC have no alternative but to immediately back down from this attack on their workforce and services. This will also bring SCC’s current leadership and governance into serious question.

While this is a very welcomed development, we are still yet to hear from SCC. We will continue to pursue this with SCC and the Federal and State Governments. In the meantime, we are working with delegates this week on our next activities and continuing to fight this before the Fair Work Commission.

Let’s all keep the pressure on so that we can ensure that workers are respected and residents at all SCC sites get the services they deserve
