Congratulations on using your voice

You might’ve heard that we wrote to SCC’s management about their unlawful text to workers who’d taken sick leave or didn’t work a shift. The text was coercive, and it threatened workers with illegal roster changes and stripping of their weekend shifts.

We’ve since received a phone call from the new Chief People Officer, Turin Prasantha, where he told us that SCC are in agreement that the text should never have been sent to workers.

We were also able to force SCC to commit to a retraction and make sure an apology is sent out.

Congratulations to the many members that spoke out and contacted HACSU outraged at management’s threats – you refused to be harassed into giving away your workplace right to use sick leave.

HACSU will always be the voice of workers because we know workers united will never be defeated!

If you’ve still got questions about your entitlements to sick leave, please make sure you get in touch with us via HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or at assist@hacsu.org.au
