It's important to have good communication at work

After we told management that workers are frustrated with the lack of dect phones in working order, OneCare manager Natalie Neilson let us know that they’re “expecting new phones to be implemented in late May”.

We told management that your frustration had intensified during the recent lockdowns at Rubicon Grove as many phones didn’t work properly, there weren’t enough of them, and some didn’t seem to charge fully or for long enough.

We know how important it is to have good communication at work and that this was a major issue for workers who were assigned to one wing during lockdown, because often the phones were flat and couldn’t be used until workers got out of their designated isolation areas.

It’s a major problem that if an incident occurs and phones are your main way to communicate you wouldn’t be able to call for assistance.

We also told management that although you had been informed that the new phones were ordered, there hasn’t been a timeframe for their arrival until now and they’re nowhere to be seen.

Fingers crossed that Natalie is true to her word and they do arrive in May, but in the meantime please continue to fill out any incident reports in relation to non-working phones or incidents that occur with residents whilst the phones are not in working order.

If you have any further issues about equipment that’s broken or not working properly, please report it to maintenance or management in the first instance. If you’re still not sure, make sure you get in touch with us at HACSUassist and we can raise it on your behalf.
