Vote NO to keep your roster and conditions

We have asked Uniting AgeWell very plainly: if they remove paid meal breaks, what do they plan to do when it comes to rosters? That is, do they intend to slash contracted hours, or make workers do extra hours to make up the same pay?

In typical UAW fashion, they ducked and weaved like a prize fighter to avoid giving us anything resembling a straight answer.

However, what we understand would happen is that rosters would be torn up – and for those who do have paid breaks now, it would mean that you would have to work extra hours (probably on different days) to make up for the paid hours that UAW wants to cut from your breaks.

But the solution to this is simple: don’t agree to any agreement that takes paid meal breaks away. Not now, not ever.

We’re urging everyone to Vote NO to UAW’s dodgy deal.

Voting on UAW’s proposal opens this Wednesday 22 March and runs until next Wednesday 29 March, so make sure you Vote NO to keep your current entitlements and receive the Fair Work pay rise in June if you’re eligible for it.

We’ll be continuing the fight for better wages and conditions in your workplace agreement and pushing to expand paid meal breaks to all workers at Uniting AgeWell.

Don’t forget: we’re starting low-level industrial action from tomorrow where you can wear HACSU badges at work. Look out for more info about the industrial action rollout for your facility soon!
