It pays to be union

We wrote to Orey recently to tell him that members at Elation Futures have reported that some workers had been rostered to do sleepovers for 9 or 10 hours since day one, and this was a breach of the Award, which clearly states that sleepovers should only extend for an 8-hour period.

We pressed Elation Futures to complete an audit for those workers who had worked sleepovers and identify all the additional hours they worked in those shifts.

Elation Futures’s audit has now come through, and backpay will soon begin to roll out to those who have worked more than 8 hours in a sleepover shift. These extra hours will be paid at the relevant pay rate.

Congratulations to those members who questioned the sleepover span and ignited change! Your questions have won back the rightful earnings owed to workers at Elation Futures. This is why it pays to be a member of HACSU!

Once you receive your backpay, if you don’t think the total amount is correct, please give HACSUassist a call on 1300 880 032, and we can help look into it further.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
