HACSU met with your delegate, Jody O’Rourke, last Thursday 21 September to take your Log of Claims to Langford and start the process of negotiating your improved wages and conditions.

Langford on the other hand did not have their counter claim ready.

They also raised some questions about some of your claims, seeking clarity around the minimum payment for recall to work once your shift ends. We’ve given them all the detail they need around the issue, and now we’re interested to hear what Langford say in response.

Your claim about Buddy Shifts also came up, with Langford stating it’s always a Team Leader or Supervisor that provides the Buddy Shifts – thankfully Jody soon put them straight when he informed them that is not the case, and that the Team Leaders allocated the Buddy to a Disability Support Worker!

Although Langford did not have much to say at this meeting, we’ve made it clear to them your wages and conditions need vast improvement – and soon.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday 24 October, and we’ll keep you updated as things progress.
