While keeping clients’ residences clean is important, your core responsibilities as a support worker are to assist and support your participants, which should never be overshadowed by cleaning tasks.

We’ve raised concerns with New Chapter and told them that instead of taking advantage of you and directing you to do excessive cleaning jobs, they must value your role as a support worker.

When you participate in a roster, always remember to prioritise participant care. If you can’t complete a deep cleaning task on the tick sheet, document the reasons clearly.
