Here's how it went

Today we officially kicked off bargaining with Hobart City Mission for your new enterprise agreement.

At the meeting we presented your endorsed log of claims, which was received positively by your employer.

Hobart City Mission also agreed with HACSU that there’s a significant need for improvement on your wages and conditions – especially because of the high cost of living many of you are facing.

When we tabled our claims, we told them the main issues you need to see real movement on are:

• Wage increases

• A fairer rostering/bidding system

• An increase to sleepover payments

• Rostered sleepover payments to be paid on annual leave

• An increase to your personal/carers leave, and more

Hobart City Mission committed to meet with us again at the end of January, where they said they’ll get back to us with some more information about where they stand.

We strongly encourage you to get involved in bargaining – we can talk the talk, but your firsthand experience of the issues you face are invaluable to us in getting a better deal.

We’ll keep you updated on if we hear anything between now and then, and make sure you’re in the loop about when bargaining is set to kick off again in January.
