Your HACSU bargaining team met with Montagu again yesterday, aiming to get them to reach a fair agreement that we could recommend to members.
We reiterated that allowing sleepovers to go for up to 10 hours is not acceptable, and workers need decent guaranteed wage increases to combat cost of living pressures.
We’ve also pointed out that some other changes Montagu had proposed would reduce your entitlements. These changes include:
• Reducing late payment provisions
• Delaying wage increments increases to newer staff
• Changes that would make it easier for Montagu to force you to take leave
Montagu representatives did genuinely seem to listen to these issues and have agreed to come back to us with their responses and a new offer by Tuesday 7 February.
Let’s hope Montagu will come to their senses this time and offer you improved wages and conditions. We’ll then arrange member meetings to hear your feedback about the new offer.
