Family based care: We've lodged at the FWC to retain your agreement

We're fighting to keep better wages and entitlements

HACSU has applied to the Fair Work Commission to extend the life of the Family Based Care Agreement until 7 December 2027.

As the Family Based Care Agreement is set to end this December, we need to make sure that workers under that agreement don’t fall back to the SCHCDS Award.

In our application, we’ve argued that it is “reasonable in all the circumstances” to extend the agreement and that employees would be better off overall under the agreement than the SCHCDS Award.

As you might be aware, the Family Based Care Agreement gives you better wages and better entitlements, such as 13 weeks of long service leave (as opposed to 8.66 weeks in the Award). We know how important this entitlement is to you, and you don’t want to lose it. The agreement also offers you better conditions in terms of minimum engagement, work health and safety, discipline processes, sleepover rates and wearing non-compulsory uniforms.

We are confident that we can extend the agreement and retain your entitlements. We expect that the FWC will not be at all sympathetic to integratedliving since they turned down the opportunity to have a united agreement for all its Tasmanian employees, as we had proposed.

We’ll keep you updated as the application process moves forward. Let’s stand strong together to protect your rights and conditions.
