NWSS commit to improvements

Recently we attended some staff meetings held by NWSS. At one of the meetings we were able to chat with Alarna Moles and Lisa Stone from the management team about workers' concerns regarding potential WHS issues occurring within the workplace due to the lack of maintenance and upkeep on some of the properties.

We told Alarna and Lisa that it was encouraging to hear from workers that some works were now underway at a couple of the NWSS homes. Management advised that they too have been frustrated with some of these issues, and often they were in a waiting game with housing or builders to get things completed. They let us know that if workers had specific issues to get in touch and management would chase them up.

We also advised management that communication was often somewhat lacking when it came to responding to workers enquiries. Both Alarna and Lisa acknowledged that communication was sometimes an issue and that moving forward in the future they hoped this would improve.

Hopefully, these conversations have allayed some workers concerns but if you do still have any WHS issues, unattended maintenance issues or issues with poor communication please feel free to give HACSUassist a call to discuss it further.

We will also be attending several NWSS staff meetings in the future, so keep an eye out for us on site so that we can discuss workplace issues face to face as well.
