You don't have to agree to their roster changes

We wrote to Trent recently about an email sent to employees advising you that there will be roster changes, namely changes to your working hours starting from 20 November.

We told Trent that workers were unhappy with the lack of information and individual consultation around these changes, and that Baptcare are in fact in breach of the consultation clause in their current agreement, which states clearly that consultation must occur when management proposes changes to employees' regular rosters or ordinary working hours.

In response, Sue Baker, Baptcare’s HR, met with us and said that any workers who would like to talk with Trent individually about their proposed rosters can make an appointment with Trent this week or early next week.

If you believe Baptcare will modify your roster, we strongly encourage you to meet with Trent to look at the proposal and raise any issues that you may have.

Remember your agreement (clause 10.3 (c)) also says that changes to regular patterns must be agreed upon. This means you don’t have to agree to changes to your pattern of hours unless and until it suits you.

On another note, we’ve also discussed the long-awaited start of bargaining with Sue, and she committed to sending out the NERR (Notice of Employee Representational Rights) and holding the first bargaining meeting in the first week of December.
